
Episode 01, Season 1. "PILOT": (09/24/94) "The Five Mrs. Buchanans" - A sitcom about four dissimilar sisters-in-law united by a common enemy - their husbands' domineering mother (Eileen Heckart). In the opener, Alex, Delilah and Vivian (Judith Ivey, Beth Broderick, Harriet Sansom Harris) throw a bridal shower for Bree. *SPECIAL NOTE* This is the official version of the pilot for "The 5 Mrs. Buchanans". There was an earlier version entitled "The 4 Mrs. Buchanans". I'm guessing since Bree wasn't married until the very end of the episode, the producers didn't think to count her as a 5th Mrs. Buchanan. This pilot differs from the earlier version in many ways. The opening theme for the first pilot was an instrumental snippet of Amy Grant's "Baby, Baby" while the closing was just a generic instrumental. I suspect the producers waited until the show was picked up by CBS before they commissioned to have the official theme song written. Some of the dialogue was a tad raunchier as well, with a lot more emphasis on Delilah's cleavage and Vivian's being pregnant before she got married, particularly when the ladies encounter Mother Buchanan. For instance, her remarks about Delilah's dress in the first pilot are replaced with remarks about wearing too much make-up. Methinks the censors at CBS had the writers clean up some of the dialogue for the official pilot. The opening scene was altogether different in the first pilot with Alex & Delilah switching roles for the end of the scene's <b>...</b>
